SmartLipo for the Chin & Neck

SmartLipo is a minimally invasive, laser-assisted procedure used to reduce fat under the chin and along the jawline and neck. A thin laser fiber is inserted through a tiny incision to liquefy targeted fat, which is then gently removed or reabsorbed. The laser also stimulates collagen, which can help tighten the skin in this area.

It's commonly used to reduce a double chin, refine the jawline, and improve the contour of the neck and submental area.

SmartLipo is typically performed under local anesthesia through very small incisions. Compared to traditional liposuction, it's often associated with less bruising and shorter downtime, with the added benefit of skin tightening.

Ideal candidates are adults with localized fat under the chin or along the jawline and reasonably good skin elasticity. It's not a weight-loss treatment. Those with significant skin laxity or underlying anatomical factors may be better suited to other options. A consultation is required.

It's usually performed under local anesthesia, so most patients are comfortable during treatment. Some soreness, swelling, or bruising in the area afterward is normal.

Chin and neck treatments are typically shorter than larger body areas, often around an hour. This varies by patient.

Downtime is generally short, often a few days of reduced activity. A compression garment or chin strap is typically worn for a period afterward to support healing and contouring. Swelling in the chin and neck area is common early on and subsides over time.

Some improvement may be visible early, but final results develop over several weeks to months as swelling resolves and collagen remodeling occurs.

Fat cells removed during treatment do not return. However, remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain, so maintaining a stable weight helps preserve results.

As with any procedure, there are risks. Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, soreness, and numbness. Because the chin and neck contain important nerves and structures, your provider will carefully review all potential risks and complications during consultation.

Incisions are very small and typically placed discreetly, such as under the chin. Most patients find any resulting marks minimal, though healing varies by individual.
